Like everything in ADF, the Order of the Crane requires study along with service from its members. While there are few formal courses, there is reading that will help you on your journey with the Crane.

Required Reading

• The Call of the Crane: A working guide for members of the ADF Order of the Crane by James "Seamus" Dillard and Rev. Michael J Dangler - This book describes a path of service to ADF and the greater community while focusing on inner development and transformation, guided by the Crane. The book contains details on how to advance within the Order as well as information on creating a Crane Bag and the symbolism and mythology that surrounds the Crane. [Buy it!]
• Oak Leaves - There is no better place to keep up on what is going on in ADF and to read about the work of others than Oak Leaves. We also hope that members of the Order of the Crane will submit work to the journal in an effort to expand the Order's call to service and devotion. [Subscribe!]
• A Book of Pagan Prayer by Ceisiwr Serith - Cei is an ADF member and has been the source of much of ADF's ritual language and central cosmology. His clear and concise explanations of how to write prayers and why we pry are invaluable to anyone working in a devotional setting. This book should be on every ADF member's bookshelf (and it should also be pretty dog-eared and well-loved). [Buy it!]
